Founded in April Fools day of 1974 by Paul Denkewalter, Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking (AMH) is the definition of local.  Still in the same location as when it opened, AMH has become a fixture in the outdoor community.  Only stocking the finest equipment, fit for the most extreme conditions, AMH has everything you need to not only survive your Alaskan adventures, but to enjoy every second of them.  The staff are all active in the outdoor community and have a deep knowledge of the state and its many nooks and crannies. They are knowledgeable about the varying conditions that all these areas can have as well. If you're looking for a one-stop adventure shop, this is the place!
